Stuttering in Children: A Brief Guide for Parents (part 2 of 2)

How to Help Children Overcome their Condition
As a parent, you have to make life a bit easier for your child and lessen the struggles he or she has to endure while going through the speech disfluency stage. The following are useful tips to help your child cope with the speech problem:

• Refrain from asking your child too many questions. Toddlers will find it easier to speak more clearly when they are allowed to express themselves instead of answering questions often.

• Do not react negatively or scold your child whenever he or she stutters. Making your child feel that you dislike stammering will only make him or her more self conscious. Just listen and show a neutral reaction or simply smile. Also, avoid the urge to complete or correct the sentence for your child. Let him or her express the message without any interruption.

• After your child has completed the sentence, say it again in a slow manner to let him or her know that you understood the message.

• Speak to your child in a moderate pace. This will train your child to speak calmly instead of hurrying to say things. In addition, pay attention to what your child has to say. If you look like you’re in a hurry, your child will tend to speak faster to keep up with you.

• Encourage—but don’t force—your child to talk. That way, the child learns to be confident when speaking. Whenever your child says a complete and correct sentence, praise him or her.

Your child needs your care, understanding, and support to be able to cope with stuttering. Give your child the assurance that you won’t punish him or her for every mistake. That way, it will be easier for the child to outgrow the speech problem.

Stuttering in Children: A Brief Guide for Parents (part 1 of 2)

At the age of three to four, children begin stuttering as they develop their speech and language skills. That is just normal during the speech development stage, which causes toddlers to constantly repeat, hesitate, and mispronounce words, sounds, and syllables. This temporary stage is called normal disfluency or pseudo-stuttering that occurs as children learn how to speak properly. Parents have no reason to worry because kids will eventually outgrow this stage after several months.

Causes

Until now, the exact cause of speech disfluency in children is still the subject of numerous studies. However, there are factors that may possibly trigger speech disorders in children such as genetics and the malfunction of the mechanisms responsible for speech production in the brain, nerves, and muscles.

Symptoms

Stammering in children becomes a cause for alarm when they fail to show signs of improvement after six months since the onset of stammering. The following are the symptoms every parent should watch out:

• Frequent repetition of a certain syllable (e.g. “Mom, I want some cho-cho-cho chocolates.”)

• Tendency to pronounce particular sounds in a lengthy way (e.g. “Ccccccan I wwwwatch TV?”)

• Substitution of vowels when repeating certain syllables. (e.g. “I will wuh-wuh-wuhsh my feet.”)

• Change of tone and pitch when the child gets stuck with a word

• Avoidance of speaking for fear of getting embarrassed

Credit Rating and Credit Repair (part 2 of 2)

Fourth, how much is your debt? It is okay to have debt once in a while as long as you are able to pay for it. If you don’t owe money to anyone, then good because this will be reflected on your high credit rating.

Lastly, what is your payment history? This is somehow connected with your length of credit because this will show if you have been able to make payments on time. If you missed a payment that could be bad but if you have not, then you should have a good credit rating.

All these five factors are equally important. So you can see if you have any problems, get a credit report from one of the three crediting agencies namely Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union.

You can get a copy from each one at the same time or do it at different times of the year. This report changes so you should obtain a copy annually.

One thing you might notice looking at the different reports is that they may not always reflect the same thing. When this happens, don’t be alarmed because each one uses a different set of protocols in coming up with those figures.

However, should something there be outdated or mistaken, this must be corrected. If you have the supporting documents, write a letter and send this to the credit agency.

If what the report says its true and you are in a lot of trouble, then steps have to be taken to initiate credit repair. You can do this by yourself or with the help of a counselor.

Regardless of who is involved, only one thing is certain and that paying off whatever outstanding debt you have is the only way to improve your score.

Don’t expect that your loan application will be approved if you credit rating is not very good. Do something about it because credit repair is your only option.

Credit Rating and Credit Repair (part 1 of 2)

There is a relationship between credit rating and credit repair. If your credit rating is 600 or below, credit repair is needed so you will always be in good standing.

But what is a credit rating? This is an indicator that tells creditors if you are credit worthy. A simple way of doing this is to encode certain things about you in the computer and within seconds, they will see the results appear on their screen.

Credit rating ranges from 350 to 850 and as mentioned earlier, a score of 600 or below is bad because if you apply for a loan, you will be paying higher interest rates compared to someone who has a good rating of 700 or above and this is usually based on 5 factors.

First, the number of inquiries you have made in the past 2 years. Did you apply for a loan or a credit card? If you did and this was approved, then as long as you pay it on time, you will have a good credit rating.

Second, what types of credit you actually have? If you have funds, then that is good. If you don’t, well don’t expect to have a high credit rating.

Third, what is the length of your credit? People who have a line of credit for 5 years or more have a better credit rating compared to someone who just graduated from college.

Tips for Writing an Effective E-mail Signature Promoting Your Blog (part 2 of 2)

Writing a good and effective e-mail signature for your blog

Promoting your blog can be done in small yet effective steps.  One of these is by using an effective e-mail signature.  Here's how to write an e-mail signature that will work for you and create buzz for your blog at the same time:

Check the e-mail application or program you're using

Most e-mail applications popular today have a tool that allows you to set up your own e-mail signature.  This tool will then automatically add your signature to every e-mail you send out.

Check your e-mail program for this tool.  In Windows Mail or Outlook, for example, writing a good e-mail signature can be performed in just a few minutes with a few simple clicks.  Use the signature editor on the program in case you want to make changes or use the signature only on specific e-mails you want to send out.

Include carefully chosen keywords

Other than your contact information, consider using keywords in the text link that are related to your blog's subject.  This will help increase that link's relevance and popularity, promoting your blog in the process.

Keep it short but informative

Think about all the important information you'll want to include in your e-mail signature – your name, contact information, blog title, address, etc.  It's a free country, so you pretty much have a choice on what you want to include but it's best to stick only to the kind of information that will bring you the best results and promote your blog.

Keep your links minimal.  One or two will do.  Most readers find multiple links to different URLs a bit suspect, so it's best to use only links to the blog where information related to your entry will be found.

Be prepared to be flexible

If you will be submitting some of your blog entries or e-mail content to article directories, find out if these directories have any submission guidelines you will have to comply with.  Generally, you'll find that directories or databases prefer plain text formatting and specific rules regarding placement, length and structure of your byline.  Tweak your e-mail signature just a bit and you'll be refused.

Since these aren't your rules to bend, you'll have no choice but to follow these submission guidelines so you can get back to the business of promoting your blog.  To solve this, write multiple e-mail signatures and use these templates as needed.  Then update these should changes occur.

This is also a good idea in case you will be sending out e-mails with a different theme.  Changing the keywords on your text link will help increase its relevance and promote your blog.

Tips for Writing an Effective E-mail Signature Promoting Your Blog (part 1 of 2)

Branding is big business.  Companies actually use a significant amount of their budget simply to build and fortify their brands.  Brands identify a product and are used by consumers to associate a company with a specific business or service.  When you're marketing online to promote your blog or your business, easily one of the most effective means to build your brand is using an e-mail signature, one that will identify you and associate you with a specific type of service or information.

What exactly is an e-mail signature?

An e-mail signature is an identifier that you will usually include at the end of every e-mail message, article, post or thread that you send or publish online.  It includes your name, your company, the title of your blog or website, its address and other contact information about you.

The e-mail signature is equivalent to a real world business card – its main purpose is to introduce you to visitors and readers and to provide them with a means to get in touch with you or find their way to your blog.  It's easy to set up and better yet, you can use it a thousand times each week and still not spend a single cent.

How important is an e-mail signature?  Consider the posts in blogs, articles and comments that marketers and bloggers often leave online and on all those e-mails you receive.  At the bottom, you'll find the ubiquitous e-mail signature with a short description of the blogger and their contact information.

Click on the link provided and you'll be brought to that blogger's little space in the Web.  Without a signature, it will be difficult indeed for anyone to locate that blogger's URL or at least go through the trouble of seeking him out actively in search engines.
